The annual report of the Society of our Lady of Lourdes for the year ending February, 1935, is now available.
The report refers with sadness to the death of Cardinal Bourne, which meant the loss of a devoted patron by the society, and recalls the annual meeting of 1917, at which only two members were present, and it was decided to ask his Eminence to allow the dissolution of the society, a request with which the Cardinal very pointedly refused to agree. In that year the membership was only a bare hundred but since that meagre figure was announced the official figures have passed the 18,000 mark.
Additional help is required for the extension work of the society and for the work of the apostolate of the sick, which is not increasing in this country as well as might be expected.
