DR. FRANCIS AYLWARD, a former president of the Newman Association and VicePresident of Pax Romana, has been appointed manager of a fouryear FAO project arranged between the Polish government and the United Nations Special Fund. The project. costing five million dollars, is officially titled "research and extension services for food production. processing and utilisation", and Dr. Aylward's principal duty will lys to assist the Polish government in establishing a new Institute of Food Technology at Warsaw. This institute will, in turn, co-ordinate the work of several other Polish institutes dealing with food problems. Seventy per cent of the cost of the project will be borne by the Polish Government.
