Change of heart on stolen icon

An anonymous phone call has led to the recovery of the icon of Our Lady of America which was stolen from St Ann's Melkite Church, West Paterson, America recently.

The icon, reported to be worth more than £100,000 was found lying face down in the backyard of the church from which it was stolen. A deacon at the church said he was not sure why the icon had been returned but that it was possible that it could not be sold because of the publicity surrounding the theft. "However I would really like to believe the thief had a change of heart," he said.
