Public opinion in Sweden indisates a growing desire for the separation of Church and State. In a recent poll, 51 per cent. of those questioned said they were satisfied with the present situation (with the Lutheran body as the established Church). 31 per cent. did not express any opinion and 18 per cent. wished to see the bonds between Church and State severed.
Of the practising Lutherans questioned. 30 per cent. said that they wished to see their Church disestablished in its own interests.
