Kirk head tribute

A warm tribute to the "magnificent gesture" by Dr Peter Brodie, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, in travelling to Rome twice within weeks for the inaugurations of two Popes was made by Archbishop Thomas Winning of Glasgow last weekend.

In the November edition of Flourish, his archdlocesan journal, he says he was "privileged" to be present at the Scots College in Rome when Dr Brodie presented the staff and students with a silver quaich.

He did so during "a warm hearted speech" and the ovation he received showed the level of the college's appreciation. The quaich is to be used during Masses at the college "as a constant reminder of these solemn moments."
