Over £2,000 raised to help Peruvians to build church

WESTON-SUPER-MARE

parishioners have donated £2,175 to the Clifton Diocese Peru Appeal, which was launched to support the thriving new parish of San Antonio in the Moquegua region of southern Peru.

The appeal, promoted by Bishop Declan Lang of Clifton, aims to assist the San Antonio parish priest, Fr Danny O'Sullivan, with his project of ' building a church. Since San Antonio was declared to be a parish by the local bishop in 2004, land has been set aside and plans drawn up, but the people have no hope of building a church without help.

Fr Danny, who is a priest of the Clifton diocese and originally from Bath, sent his thanks. "Together as brothers and sisters in the Lord we can achieve so much," he said. "Thank you for your generosity and support."
