FRENCH ALPS (Thames and Hudson, 21s.).

FOR the Alps Switzerland springs almost too easily to mind: occasionally, too, Austria is remembered; but somehow France so often escapes attention. Mont Blanc in its majesty is thought of as an individual rather than one of the many impressive peaks.
