Canon Thomas Herbert Horsfield has died aged 83. He was horn on 24th November 1901 at Auckland, New Zealand. Educated in England at The King's School, Worcester and at Oxford he was ordained to the Anglican Ministry in 1927. During the war he served as a Chaplain in the Royal Navy, and after the war became a Catholic. He left New Zealand at the age of three with his grandparents after a family tragedy. They were evangelicals. Al School he decided to become a Catholic and went to confession and Mass in AngloCatholic churches. After the war he was received into Buckfast (Abbey). He studied for the priesthood at the Beda College, Rome and was ordained in the Lateran Basilica on March 10th 1951. He served in the diocese of Plymouth at the Cathedral, at Shaldon, Sherbornc and Sidmouth from where he retired to Nazareth House in Plymouth. He died there on December 24.
