A KENYAN priest is to address members of the Houses of Lords about his work in the Turkana region which borders southern Sudan and Ethiopia.
Fr Steven Ochieng leads the St Paul missionary community, which has helped to bore more than 60 wells and 43 dams in the remote region in the Great Rift Valley, as well as founding schools, clinics, dispensaries and churches, transforming the lives of thousands of people.
The area has been torn apart by ethnic troubles in recent years, so that what was once a mixed region of Turkanas and Dassenech was left deserted as a result of fighting. The Missionary Community of St Paul the Apostle, founded by a charismatic Spanish priest, Fr Paco Andreo, helped to rebuild buildings destroyed in fighting and bring about reconciliation.
The address will be held at Committee Room One on Wednesday March 16 at 5.00pm.
