Cardinal Mundelein, Archbishop of Chicago, was the guest of President Roosevelt on the latter's yacht during the Navy Day review. His Eminence, who has exchanged several visits with Mr. Roosevelt, was returning one of the courtesy calls made by the President during a recent visit to Chicago.
The Chicago prelate is regarded as generally friendly to the New Deal. His statements on labour have been extensively quoted in the labour press, and he is looked upon as one of the episcopal leaders of progressive Catholic social thought.
