Fr. Vidal, a Jesuit and Professor of Canon Law in Rome for 32 years, died suddenly, just after he had taken the oath, at a meeting of the Consultors of the Holy Office. His name is famous among Canonists as coupled with Fr. Wcrnz, S.J., with whom he collaborated in writing a classic work, Jus Decretalium.
