French Radio Fades Out a High Mass

French Catholics are indignant that the broadcast of a solemn High Mass from Notre Dame Cathedral. Paris, was interrupted. at the beginning of the Gloria. by Radio-Brittany, who went on to the next item on the programme—gramophone records.

La Croix, Paris Catholic newspaper, indignant at the " sabotaging " of the broadcast, hints that the chief manager of RadioBrittany may be responsible, as he is a Socialist, and was appointed by the Blum Ministry, although a certain Lieut.-Colonel Bourgault-Ducondray was considered more eligible for the post.

by a narrowly-nationalist Hungarian clergy anxious to denationalise and latinise the Ruther.ians, only resulted in the secession to Orthodoxy of some 20,000 people. If similar attempts of forced conversions are made now, as the Orthodox say is being done in Poland, relations between Orthodox and Catholics, never too cordial. will suffer greatly.

Only Russia could have vetoed this decision, but the U.S.S.R. is not Russia. The voice of Ukranian separatists. themselves divided among four states, is too feeble to exercise any influence and their agitation in Ruthenia and Galicia habeen of no avail.
