Cardinal Jean Villot, the Vatican Secretary of State, has sent the following telegram to Archbishop Bruno Heim, the Apostolic Delegate to Great Britain: "The Holy Father has learned with sorrow of the tragic explosion in Guildford, and he gives the assurance of his prayers for the repose of the souls of those who died. While

again strongly condemning these and any acts of violence and hatred as being an unjust threat menacing human dignity and society, His Holiness wishes you to convey his prayerful sympathy to the local authorities and to those who have been bereaved and who have suffered injury and loss."
