Oscott priest for Rome

FR KEVIN McDonald from St Mary's College, Oscott, near Birmingham, has been appointed as a staff member of the Vatican Secretariat for the Promotion of Christian Unity.

Fr McDonald succeeds the late Mgr Richard Stewart who died suddenly at the end of July. A priest in the archdiocese of Birmingham, Fr McDonald has taught moral theology at Oscott for the past nine years.

A graduate of Birmingham University and the Venerable English College in Rome, he gained his degree in moral theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1975.

Latterly Fr McDonald has been much involved in the Catholic-Methodist dialogue and is a member of the Christian Unity committee of the bishops' conference of England and Wales. He is also a member of ARCIC 2.

He will be at his new desk in Rome on October 17.
