THE POPE REFUSES TRANSFER

DOPE PAUL has refused to let Cardinal Cushing, Archbishop of Boston, go to South America as a missionary priest. Announcing this himself in Boston this week on his return from Rome. the Cardinal said that the Pope would not give him permission to go to South America permanently but that it was possible that he would go there on missionary tasks quite soon.

Cardinal Cushing said that he had asked Pope John for such a transfer, but was also refused.
