Canon Hyland's golden jubilee
CANON MICHAEL HYLAND, parish priest of St. Osmund's, Salisbury, since 1932, celebrates his golden jubilee in the priesthood on June 24. After he celebrates Mass there will be a buffet supper at which he will receive presentations.
He was ordained at the Franciscan Convent, Taunton, after which he became curate at Bristol Pro-Cathedral; curate at the Holy Rood Church, Swindon: chaplain to the Sisters of Mercy at Westburyon-Trym, and in 1925 parish priest at the Sacred Heart, M inehead.
Cambridge post for priest
FR. DAVID STANDLEY. for the past two years assistant priest at Our Lady, Melior Street, Bermondsey, has been appointed Assistant Chaplain to Fr. Richard Incledon, Catholic Chaplain at Cambridge University.
Fr. Standley, who is 34, read law at Downing College, Cambridge, and studied theology at the English College in Rome. He was ordained in 1967.
