The English Press, having reported that Senorita Rosita Diaz, the Spanish film star, was shot by the Nationalists as a spy —in some cases with added circumstantial details such as her dying with a cigarette between her lips—has now been forced to recognise that she is still alive and well, and a supporter of the Nationalist cause.
It was announced at the beginning of February that Professor Leopoldo Alas, Rector Magnifico of the University of Oviedo, had been condemned to death by the Nationalist Council of War. At this news, certain University circles in Paris, including a group belonging to the Catholic Institute, pleaded to the Burgos Government for a commutation of his sentence. This has been granted, and the sentence of death has been changed to one of imprisonment.
