. The Holy Father has conferred the dignity of Protonotary Apostolic ad instar participantium upon Mgr. William O'Grady on the occasion of his golden jubilee in the priesthood and in recognition of his work as Vicar-General in the Brentwood diocese since its foundation in 1917.
This dignity permits a priest on certain occasions to pontificate at Mass and confers other privileges upon him. Mgr. O'Grady. celebrates the 50th anniversary of his ordination on June 9.
He has had charge of St. George's, Waltharnstow, as missionary rector and parish priest, for 45 years, and has been Provost of the Brentwood Chapter for 33 years. From St, George's he founded the parishes of St. Patrick, Walthamstow, Our Lady of Lourdes. Wanstead, and Our Lady of Grace, Chiugford, and built a new church in his own parish.
Pope Pius XI created him a Domestic Prelate 11 years ago.
