New head for Oscott
ARCHBISHOP Maurice Couve de Murville of Birmingham has announced the appointment of Fr Patrick McKinney STL as Rector of St Mary's College, Oscott. Fr McKinney, who is heavily involved in ecumenism and training for the Permanent Dioconate, said on hearing of his appointment: "Oscott has been blessed with many fine rectors and I tremble at the thought of trying to folios* in their footsteps."
FR George TOO, Senior Hungarian Chaplain to the United Kingdom, has been made a Prelate of Honour by the Holy Father. Auxiliary Bishop of Liverpool Kevin O'Connor handed the tellers confirming the new status over to Fr Tutto at a special ceremony attended by Chaplains ministering to Eastern Europeans in London.
HUGH Spillsbury, General Manager of the Challoner Club whose membership is primarily Catholic, has announced his resignation in a recent edition of the club's newsletter. "I have taken this step only after much careful thought and a great deal of painful soul-searching," he said. Recent press reports suggested that Mr Spillsbury's resignation is the result of managerial in-fighting at the club.
