The first Catholic church in the Sahara desert is to be consecrated in the oasis of El Golna, about 625 miles from Algiers, on December 1. The new church is being built over the tomb of Charles de Foucauld, the " Apostle of the Sahara," who was assassinated on December 1, 1916.
