Mr. E. Payton, J.P.

By the death, on the 2nd inst, of Mr, Edmund Payton, Derby loses a prominent Catholic citizen, who did much good work in a quiet way. Mr. Payton had a lifelong connection with Derby, where he was partner in a firm of mining engineers.

In 1925, Mr. Payton was appointed a magistrate. In that capacity he took a keen interest in all that concerned the work of the court, where tributes to his memory were paid by the chairman of the Bench, and the Clerk, on news of the dcath becoming known.
