No hope

From F W M Raybould Sir, Having read the letter about Bob Hope (August 15), 1 wish to nominate your corespondent G Vaughan Williams as a candidate for canonisation. Obviously he is a very holy man, one who, in fact, must be without sin, since he has ventured to cast the first stone.

Using Mr Vaughan Williams' criteria, I also propose demotion from sanctity of St Augustine of Hippo, a self-confessed philanderer; St Paul, a notorious persecutor of Christianity and St Peter, who more than once denied his Master.

Yours faithfully, F W M RAYBOULD Stourport-on-Severn, Worcs
