Cardinal Bernardin: an appreciation

I WOULD LIKE to add to your appreciation of Cardinal Joseph Bemardin and record his great commitment to the liturgy and its central importance in the life of the Church. This caring and enlightened pastor supported and continued the extensive and invaluable work of the Office of Divine Worship of the Archdiocese of Chicago and of Liturgy Training Publications. His Pastoral Letter on the Liturgy, Our Communion, Our Peace, Our Promise, is still sold

and read worldwide. He once told me in a letter "We are very proud of our Office of Divine Worship", and this is typical of his enthusiasm for ongoing liturgical development. The fruits can be seen not only in the Sunday worship in the churches of his archdiocese, but (thanks to LTP books) throughout the English-speaking world.
