Warning on unofficial Bible sellers

Catholic Herald Reporter

HOUSEHOLDERS in the north-western area of London were this week warned against the activities of bibleselling door-to-door salesmen.

Pretending they are conducting a census of Catholics. or to represent the Catholic Truth Society, the salesmen get themselves invited in. 'then they try to sell copies of the Bible.

Mr. T. H. Ruiner, general manager of the CTS told me that his organisation employed no door-todoor salesmen. "We have an edition of the Bible," he added, "hut we sell it only through our reelsliar outlets. We object to the activities of the salesmen who represent themselves as being employed by Other salesmen pretend they have been advised to call by the parish priest or by one of the Catholic welfare .societies. An official said: "If a householder is in doubt. he should ring the parish priest or the society the salesman mentions."
