ETU TAKEN TO COURT

MR. J. T. BYRNE—the Catholic who is E.T.U. area secretary in Glasgow and who fought Mr. Frank Haxele a Communist, in the recent election for E.T.U, general secretary—and Mr. Frank Chapple, an anti-Communist member of the E.T.U. executive, are suing the E.T.U. in an attempt to "redress very serious grievances".

In a statement issued on Monday they said that they were afraid that the T.U.O. might have had no alternative but to suspend the E.T.U.. which "would deprive our members of their prestige and privileges of belonging to the congress and would still leave all the questions in dispute unresolved". They feel the "very considerable and important issues involved can only be resolved in the High Court".
