Comments on columnists: Monckton and Boylan

I FIND it a little hard to understand why there has been so much controversy on this page about your columnist Christopher Monckton (Catholic Herald, September 19, October 23, etc).

I have to admit that Mr Monckton is not my favourite of your columnists.

He is undeniably a clever writer, but to my personal taste his literary style lacks a certain essential gentleness.

However, I have always thought that one of the great strengths of your paper is that it contains something for everyone; long may it continue to do so: And, while we are on the subject of columnists, can I say how much I have appreciated Clare Boylan's contributions to date?

She writes with a great deal of clarity and wisdom, and I hope that when she finishes her mini-series you will be able to find a Charterhouse Chronicle slot for her, or something of the kind.
