A school believed to have the biggest gymnasium in the country has been ope.,ed at Billington. near Blackburn, Lanes. The gym is 104 feet long and has space for four badminton pitches.
The school, St. Augustine's Catholic Secondary Modern, has cost £270.000 and can accommodate 450 children. It will later he enlarged to take in almost 700 children.
