A Guide to Real Holidays Abroad by Frank Barrett (Independent, £5.95)

Jonathan Kemp

A considerable part of the enjoyment of any holiday is the anticipation and the preparation for it. If you do not care for mass package holidays, and prefer to travel more independently then a small investment of £5.95, the cost of a A Guide to Real Holidays Abroad, is worthwhile.

This paperback is written by

Frank Barrett the trasel correspondent of t he The Independent and published by them. It is not your usual travel guide. A third of the book consists of a few practical chapters on cheap air fares, how to make complaints, the impressive paradors of Spain, car hire etc . . .

The remaining two thirds is devoted to telling you who are the tour operators that organise holidays in various parts of the world, while a subsequent directory gives brief details concerning each operator.
