Westminster Cathedral's professional choir, due to be disbanded, was saved this week through funds being made available from money remaining from an appeal made seven years ago.
Mr Colin Mawby, Master of Music at Westminster, said the Westminster Cathedral share of a united choirs appeal, made wit the choirs of St Paul's and Westminster Abbey, would finance the choristers until May 1976. After that date he was hopeful the whole funding of Westminster Cathedral, including the choir, would have been decided on.
Mr Mawby said he was "very pleased" that this money had been made available after a meeting attended by representatives on all three choirs on Monday.
