Hard Head

Dom THOMAS Regan, the parish priest of Our Lady's Church, Hereford celebrated Mass on 5 June to commemorate the "topping out" ceremony for his new parish church. For the past 40 years parishioners have attended Mass at the adjacent Church Hall.


THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY of choral and orchestral concerts at Brentwood Cathedral, Essex, on 15 June, will feature the music of Vaughan Williams and be performed in the presence of members of the Welsh composer's family. Baritone Jeremy Huw Williams is joined by the Aurelian Ensemble, Brentwood Cathedral Choir and Brentwood Cathedral Singers, directed by Andrew Wright. The programme includes Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis, English Folk Song Suite, Five Mystical Songs, Serenade to Music, Fantasia on Greesleeves, and begins at 7.30pm. Admission is £10.

Sea Trip

FR JOHN MAGUIRE, national director of the Apostleship of the Sea at Tilbury, is in training for an epic bicycle ride from John O'Groats to Lands End in September. The 14day, 971 mile trip is in aid of the Apostleship, a pastoral and spiritual charity caring for the 'needs of seafarers". THE BISHOP OF Hcxham and Newcastle, Ambrose Griffiths, will celebrate Mass this Sunday, 16 June, at 1pm in the grounds of Ushaw College, to mark the 50th anniversary of Catholic Care North East. Local bands will perform during the afternoon.
