THE BISHOPS' CONFERENCE of England and Wales have published the document of their fundraising appeal Faith in the Future online to raise awareness among potential donors.
The document, which has as its slogan "Because there is more to life", promises to "bring hope and healing to fractured parts of our society". So far the appeal has raised £2 million, with another E1 million pledged. The bishops launched Faith in the Future in 2005 to raise £11.5 million to pay for urgent priorities for the Church's work at a national level. Last week they announced that they were a quarter of the way to the total.
Archbishop Peter Smith, chairman of the fundraising committee, said: "When Faith in the Future was launched in early 2006 we had very high hopes for its success. Almost three years later those hopes have been realised through the generosity of those of you who have supported the bishops in these initiatives. Much has already been achieved, but we still have a lot to do."
