McALPINE TO GIVE CHAPEL TO BUILDERS
HUNDREDS of Irish labourers working for Sir Robert McAlpine and Sons, Ltd., at Luton, have been given a Mass centre by the firm.
It is a 100-ft. long prefabricated building, at the entrance to the site where the men are working on extensions to Vauxhall Motors.
Fr. George Walker, of the Sacred Heart Church, Luton, will say Mass at the centre every Sunday.
McAlpines hope to be employing 1,000 men on the site by Christmas. Eighty per cent. of them will probably he Irishmen.
During the week the hall will be used for recreation.
