DON CARLOS' COSTLY PARTY CONDEMNED

The Vatican newspaper Osservatore Romano on Monday criticised the £15,000 " palace warming " party given by a Spanish millionaire in Venice.

"The left-wing press," it said, " is just as justified in its indignation as those who organised the affair were wrong in their lavish display. "There is immorality in this money spent in futility. on crazy things, money thrown at the faces of countless suffering people, and tormented creatures. at the whole of a country which is struggling in economic difficulties.'
