heard by Bishop Cowderoy of Southwark on Tuesday night when he presented prizes to pupils of the Salesian College, Battersea, in the Town Hall.

It is not only in education that the Salesians excel. "in everything they do in my diocese," said the Bishop, "they leave us in their debt."

More than 700 members and friends of the Brentwood diocesan branch of the Catholic Women's League, led by Bishop Beck. took part in a pilgrimage to Walsingham last week to pray for the good estate of the Queen,

Appointments

Southwark.-Canon Emile Burt. a retired priest of the diocese. has resigned from the Southwark Chapter and has been appointed an Honorary Canon. He is succeeded by Dr. Joseph Crowley. chairman of the Southwark Diocesan Schools Commission and parish priest of the Church of the English Martyrs. Streatham. Canon Crowley was Procurator of the English College, Lisbon, where he was educated for the priesthood, and was parish priest of Burgess Hill prior to his appointment to Streatham.

Ordinations

Venerable English College.-On Sunday, May 3, in the Basilica of St. John and St.Paul, Rome. Archbishop Traglia. Vice Gerent of Rome conferred the Subdiaconate on: Brian MurphyO'Connor (Portsmouth), Ronald Cox (Westminster) and Michael McConnon (Salford).

Travelling Missions

Brentwood.-Mass will be said on Sunday in the British Legion Club at Tollesbury at 8.15 and in the British Legion Hall. Tiptree, at If) a.m. Next week the Mission will visit Mersea Island.

Southwark.-This week the Mission will visit: (I) Barham and Chilham in the parish of Canterbury. Mass will be said on Sunday at 28 The Grove, Barham, at 8 and at the Village Hall. Chilham, at 10. (2) box Hill in the parish of Leatberhead. Mass will be said on Sunday at "Top Light," Box Hill Road, Tadworth, at 9 a.m.

Menevia.-The Mission will this weekend visit (1) Parish of Llangollen. Mass will be said at Celn Mawr and Glynceiriog. (2) Parish of Pembroke Dock : Mass will be said at PwlIcrochan and Law renny.
