A plea for a Catholic daily paper which would make the same kind of appeal to Catholic workers as the Daily Worker did to others, was made at an ACTU meeting at St. Patrick's Dudley Road, Birmingham, on December 12. Papers had been read by members of ACTU on Trade Union Procedure and on the Social Teaching of the Papal Encyclicals, and discussion on them proceeded far into the night.
