permitted me (0 appeal in THE CATHOLIC HERALD for Catholic newspapers and magazines The response has been truly magnificent, and I beg your permission to thank, through The CATHOLIC HERALD the many readers throughout the British Isles who have been so regular in sending their Catholic papers and magazines. During the past two-and-a-half years our office has handled over ,90,000 papeis and Catholic periodicals, some 4,500 Rosarrts. 5,000 Prayer-books, 2,500 Sacred Heart badges and 1.750 medals. These articles have been welcomed by our troops in Africa, India, Italy, Germany, Jersey and of course at many home stations, It would be idle to say that much good has been done through the generosity of your readers; the many letters we receive from Chaplains and men stationed in all zones tell of the great pleasure derived from the Catholic newspapers; one Catholic officer writing says . " The Catholic papers go like hot cakes amongst the natives of West Africa," Ihat is when there are any left over from the troops. Thus I feel that many thanks are due to your readers for their kind help. At the moment we ate still open to receive Catholic magazines and Rosaries. We intend to keep
