DEATH IN AUSTRALIA

The Rev. Thomas Garden, Si., member of a distinguished Irish family, who numbered among his relatives Lord Russell of Killowett, Dr, Russell, onetime President of Maynooth, and Dr. cartlan, Rector of Salamanca University, Spain, has died in Sydney at the age of 90, after 62 years in the priesthood and 71 in the religious life.

Born at Newry, County Down, Ireland, Pr. Gattlan was educated at St. Stanislaus College, Tullamore, King's Cougity, where • he won the college dehabit medal for oratory at a time when the college was ruled and influenced by such distinguished Jesuits as Fr. William Delany, Fr. Joseph Dalton and Er. Alfred Murphy. He entered the Jesuit Novitiate at Milltown Park, Dublin, and later studied in England, Belgium and the south of France.
