Mr. and Mrs. Peter Walsh of Astley Street, Stalybridge, Cheshire, parishioners of St. Peter's church, have celebrated their golden wedding.
Mr. Walsh is well-known in northern musical circles. Under his conductorship St. Peter's choir has been successful in numerous contests at Belle Vuc, Manchester, Hazel Cirove, Stocksbridge, Wallasey, Alderley Edge, and Blackley. He and his wife have been presented with an illuminated address and a radio by past and present members of the choir.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Walsh are 73 years of age, and their birthdays occur within three weeks of each other. They were married at St. Peter's by the late Rev. J. Carroll who afterwards became Bishop of the Shrewsbury diocese. Mr. Walsh has been a member of the Catholic Young Men's Society for 57 years.
