A demand for the withdrawal of the recent Government White Paper on Immigration was made last week by the General Assembly of the Union of Catholic Students, on the grounds that it would have serious effects on overseas students, such as difficulties over registration for courses of study and work permits for part-time and vacation employment. The Union will ask the Catholic Institute for International Relations and the Catholic Union to press for the White Paper's withdrawal. Joint action will also he taken with the Student Christian Movement and the National Union of Students.
