Priest addresses Anglican pupils

A CATHOLIC priest has given a talk to pupils at Bristol Cathedral School in a ground-breaking ecumenical initiative.

Julia Greenbury, a teacher at the Church of England school, invited Fr Robert King to address her A-Level Religious Philosophy and Religious Ethics students.

Having studied the theology of St Thomas Aquinas, the students were keen to grill Fr King on what the Catholic Church has to say in relation to conscience and the contemporary world.

Fr Robert King said: "As a university chaplain I am very conscious of the need for priests to be generous with time when given the opportunity to explain and explore questions of faith with the young.

"As the Clifton diocese director for vocations to the priesthood, I believe it is essential that we encourage bright young minds to question the place of the Church in today's world." Ms Greenbury said: "Fr Robert's visit was an excellent opportunity for our Year 13 Philosophy and Ethics group to discuss issues surrounding Christian ethics. Fr Robert is a brilliant speaker with considerable knowledge in this area. His talk was lively and engaging and he answered the many questions which arose from it with care and humour. We are very grateful for his time and for providing such a valuable learning experience."
