There are 50.000 Christians, 23,000 of whom are Catholics, living in the State of Israel according to reports reaching Cairo from Tel Aviv. There were only 32,000 Christians in Israel in 1948.
The Catholics are made up of 20,000 Greek-Catholics, 6,000 Latins
and 2,000 Maronites. The GreekOrthodox (Schismatic) claim 15,000: Protestants 1.000; Monophysite Copts 1,000 and Jacobite Armenians 2.000.
