New home for dead-end kids

Mgr. Giovanni Montini, assistant Papal Secretary of State, the Mayor of Rome and the President of Italian Catholic Action, were among those who attended a touching ceremony in the fort of Monte Mario, overlooking Rome. for the inauguration of yet another home for abandoned ch ildren.

It has been opened through the efforts of an Irish prelate. Mgr. Carrol-Abbing. This new home is officially called " an observation centre for difficult boys but it has nothing of the atmosphere of the " Reformatory." After a period at the centre every effort will be made to find suitable employment so that these " difficult " boys may begin to grow into useful members of the community. Mgr. Carrol-Abbing is its president.
