Cardinal Griffin paid his first visit outside London for some months when, on Friday, he attended the celebrations at Oseott College, Birmingham, of the golden jubilee of Mgr. Leonard Emery, Rector of the college. His Eminence is seen in the picture with the Archbishop of Birmingham, Mgr. Masterson, Mgr. Bright, Auxiliary Bishop. and the jubilarian. The Holy Father. who made Mgr. Emery a Protonotary Apostolic on his jubilee, sent a special blessing for the day.

Provost Yeo, a friend of Mgr. Emery since their boyhood, accompanied by other members of the Chapter, expressed the clergy's con

gratulations. Mgr. Masterson presented a cheque for £400 , from priests and other friends.
