Village protests at purchase of convent land

A protest meeting against the compulsory purchase by the Clutton, Somerset. rural district council of 6f acres of the Sacred Heart Convent's land, led by Mr. B. J. Drury, at Chew Magna, was attended by more than 200 people, A resolution to be sent to Mr. T. Leather, M.P. for North Somerset, and to the Minister of Health says : "To deprive the school of land would be to deprive children and future generations of children of recreational facilities which are essential features in the education of the young."
