Fr. Robert Heywood, O.F.M.

Fr. Robert Heywood, 0.F.M., a Franciscan for over 50 years, died on Friday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Whalley Range, Manchester. He was 69. For the past 20 years Fr. Robert had been stationed at St. Francis's, Gorton, the parish in which he was born.

Fr. Robert joined the Franciscans in 1901 and was professed the following year at Chilworth. He was ordained priest in 1908 at Mill Hill, London. He served at Stratford, Woodford, Manchester, Forest Gate, Glasgow and Liverpool, them returned to Manchester. He served ar Guardian at Manchester and Vicar at Forest Gate.

The names of all those priests and nuns who have died under persecution behind the Iron Curtain are included in the list for whom Masses arc regularly offered at St. Anthony's, Becston, Leeds.
