One of the oldest Catholic churches in South Wales. recently renovated, was consecrated by Archbishop Murphy of Cardiff last week. St. Mary's, Bridgend, built in 1a56, was staffed by the Benedictine monks of Douai until four years ago when it was handed over to the diocesan clergy. Abbot Mooney of Douai consecrated the Lady Altar.
