Pulling in potential Catholics

THE Catholic Enquiry Centre, which advertises in secular newspapers and magazines in a bid to win converts and spread understanding about the Church, reports that 1992 resulted in over 15,000 enquiries nearly 600 more than the previous year.

In its interim report, the London-based charity says it spent nearly £40,000 on advertising during the year including ads in the Sun, the News of the World, Wedding and Home and She Magazine.

CEC director Barbara Hopper says the rise is encouraging, but appeals for financial help. "It's a way in which Catholics can share what they value most their Faith,"
