Pope Decorates Panama Politicians

The Pope has awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of St. Gregory to Juan Demostenes Arosemena, President of Panama, according to a statement issued by Mgr. Carlo Chiarlo, Apostolic Nuncio to Central America.

The Panama Foreign Secretary, Jos6 E. Lefevre, will receive the Grand Cross of the Order of St. Sylvester, and the SubSecretary of Foreign Relations, Juan B. Chevalier, is named a Grand Officer of the same Order.

The Pope has also conferred the Grand Cross of the Order of St. Gregory on President Anastasio Somoza, of Nicaragua, and the Grand Cross of the Order of St. Sylvester on the Nicaraguan Foreign Minister, Sr. Manuel Cordero Reyes.
