PRINCE CHARLES was 18 this week and the occasion has provided the Press with the opportunity to give advice to the Queen and Prince Philip on what form his further education should take.
While the New Statesman thinks that the Prince should go to Oxford the Sunday Pictorial has offered him a job on its editorial staff. ,("After all, Uncle Tony Snowdon . . . takes some jolly good pictures for the Sunday Times.") We cannot match the Pictorial's offer for obvious constitutional reasons, but we can wish Prince Charles every success in the year ahead and pray that if he does go to Oxford or Cambridge, or any of the old or new Redbricks, he will be given more freedom to mix informally with his subjects than was given to the last Prince of Wales.
