By B. A. HARRINGTON AN innovation in the training of seminarians,
based on the belief that a priest must be trained not only in the seminary but in the diocese and type of parish in which he will work, has been introduced into Leeds diocese by Bishop Dwyer.
Ecumenical paper for Caversham
AN ecumenical paper, to be called the Caversham Bridge, is to be produced by local Catholics, Anglicans, Baptists and Methodists. It will give news not only of what Christians are doing in the Cayersham area, but also "all that is positive and constructive in the life of the local community".
The paper's name points to its twp principal aims to help bridge the gulf between the church and the world and to help Christians of different traditions to understand each other.
A statement this week announcing the publication of the paper at the end of this month says the Cavershain Bridge is not intended to be in any sense a rival to any existing local paper.
Its promoters believe that by circulating among the 20,000 people in the area, this monthly Christian newspaper will enable the Christian church to have contact with thousands who have no active Church connections.
